New online services at the Citizens’ Office Rheine

Sind die Online-Dienstleistungen verfügbar? Silvia Liedtke und Christopher Siepelmeyer vom Bürgerservice der Stadt Rheine prüfen noch einmal alle Inhalte, damit zum Start auch alles reibungslos läuft.

More service and faster processing

RheineOffering flexible and future-oriented administrative services in order to provide citizens and companies with easy access to the administration while guaranteeing a high quality of service provision is the goal that the city’s citizen service at Rheine has set itself. Digitalization is an important factor here and has therefore now been expanded to include additional online services. From this month onwards, simple and extended registration certificates can be applied for online and from home. “It will no longer be necessary to visit the authorities or the citizens’ office in person to process this request,” says Christopher Siepelmeyer, the responsible product manager in the citizens’ service Rheine. The important thing is that the application can be completed quickly, securely and reliably.

Silvia Liedtke, who acted as an interface in the citizens’ office and launched the services in cooperation with IT, also hopes that the new service will bring real benefits for citizens. “Registration certificates are one of the most frequently used services at our citizens’ office. They are required when applicants need to prove to third parties where they are registered. There are a whole range of occasions when a registration certificate must be presented, for example to an employer, the registration office, but also when getting married or going to the consulate. Accordingly, the number of applicants is always very high.” In most cases, a simple registration certificate is sufficient. In addition to the surname and first name, it also contains the date of birth and the full address in Rheine. In other matters, such as a marriage, the registry office requires an extended registration certificate with additional data, such as religion, marital status or details of spouses or children. The fee is 9 euros and is payable during the online application via Paypal, Giropay or credit card. The registration certificate itself is then sent by post.

But that is not the only “more” that is offered online. In future, it will also be possible to check the status of the passport or ID card applied for from the comfort of your own home. Is my ID card already ready or is it still being processed? You can use the new online service to check the current processing status at any time. All you need is a new document number, which – if you are interested – will be given to you when you submit your application.

The deregistration of a secondary residence and the application for a so-called transmission block, i.e. the transmission of data to the Federal Office of Personnel Management of the German Armed Forces, to public religious organizations, address book publishers, information to political parties or even for anniversaries, can now also be applied for online.

Direct consultations with the Citizens’ Services team are of course still possible. However, the expansion of online services is another important step towards a modern citizens’ office in order to make the sometimes time-consuming journey to the Rheinetown hall easier, especially for older people or people with disabilities, but also for people who work or live further away.
