Rheine. The City of Rheine has been awarding the Culture Prize since 1979. The prize, endowed with a total of 2,500€, honors people who promote, support, enliven or shape cultural life in our city in an outstanding way. This can happen in all cultural areas, such as literature, performing or visual arts, music, dance. Who receives the cultural award, that decides the cultural committee of the city Rheine.
Since 2022, there is also the Homeland Prize. With this prize, the city, in cooperation with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, would like to honor the outstanding commitment of volunteers who work to cultivate the idea of homeland in our urban society. The Homeland Award is therefore a special recognition of volunteerism and at the same time puts the topic of homeland in the public spotlight. In addition, the prize is also an incentive for interested people to get involved in their homeland and to discuss the topic of homeland in society.
Last but not least, one can also learn from the award-winning projects in that an idea can provide the impetus for further initiatives. For this reason, the first-place winner of the Heimat-Preis of the city of Rheine is automatically qualified for the state competition. The NRW Home Prize 2023 is endowed with a total of 5,000 euros.
All citizens of the city of Rheine can propose people, associations or initiatives until August 10, 2023, which in their opinion should be awarded the Culture Prize or the Homeland Prize.
The proposal should include not only the name of the potential laureate, but also a reason why this particular person or group should receive the award. It is also important that the proposed persons or groups must have a connection to Rheine with their performance or in their person.
