Rheine. The Hörstkamp railroad underpass is open for pedestrian and bicycle traffic as of today (Wednesday, 30.11.2022).
After the complex and time-consuming construction measures, the underpass can finally be used again. Except for a few remaining works such as the replanting of the side areas, the marking of the roadway and the creation of the handrail, the work has been completed.
In September 2018, the first supply lines and the existing combined sewer were laid. After that, Deutsche Bahn AG built the underpass structure. Only after the auxiliary bridges had been removed in November 2021 could the new cycle paths then also be built, which were completed on time despite the Corona pandemic and supply bottlenecks due to the Ukraine war. The cost framework of approx. 5.4 million euros for the entire measure was adhered to.
