The Municipality of Leiria is in 1st place in the Transparency ranking among Portuguese district capitals, 2nd among the 50 largest national cities and 3rd among all Portuguese municipalities.
This is the result of a study promoted by Dyntra, an international collaborative platform that aims to measure the public information of governments, public administrations, political parties, elected representatives and the various social actors, in a dynamic, efficient, transparent and open way.
“This result reflects our clear commitment to transparency, institutional openness, commitment and rigorous management, and these are the priorities that have guided our political action from day one,” says the mayor of Leiria, Gonçalo Lopes, adding that the municipality will continue to invest in a more enlightened and participatory community and work ever harder to establish Leiria as a benchmark in Portugal.
It should be noted that Leiria has occupied prominent positions in various national rankings.
According to the Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados’ Anuário Financeiro dos Municípios Portugueses (Financial Yearbook of Portuguese Municipalities), published last September, the municipality of Leiria ranks eighth overall among the large municipalities with the best financial efficiency. This ranking was based on a set of indicators of financial effectiveness and efficiency, in a study which also highlights its sixth position among those that pay suppliers the fastest, being the first among large municipalities, with an average payment period of just one day.
Also noteworthy is the affirmation of Leiria as one of the best cities to live in the Central Region, with an emphasis on the quality of life of its residents, as well as being one of the main municipalities in the context of doing business at a national level.
