36th Football Tournament of Caritas Children and Youth Home.
Rheine.cpr. At the weekend, the Caritas Children’s and Youth Home organized its traditional soccer tournament in Rheine for the 36th time. It was played for the first time on the artificial turf field of the FCE Rheine at the Delsen. Around the popular challenge cup this time the Betriebssportmannschaften of the police, the municipality Rheine, the district court, the city savings bank Rheine, the Caritas association as well as the Caritas child and youth home as hosts fought.
In bright sunshine, this year for the first time the teams competed against each other in league mode. The proven referees Christian Keisel and Günter Stockhorst were partly confronted with combination soccer on an exhilarating level. Although there was no lack of ambition, all games were always played fairly.
In the end, only the host, the Caritas Children’s and Youth Home, with 12 points, stood above the third-placed team of the city administration Rheine with 10 points and the second-placed team of the police with 11 points. The police with their player coach Niklas Dyker, who played an outstanding tournament and came out without conceding a goal, frittered away their title opportunity in the last game against the strong acting team of the Stadtsparkasse with captain Alex Runge, of all teams. Thus under frenetic cheers of the spectators the team of the children’s home with the most points and masterly goals (14) could lift the challenge cup again.
After the tournament, all teams met for the third half-time in the conference center of the Caritas Children’s and Youth Home. There, with delicacies from the grill, one or the other game scene was discussed until late into the night. A special thanks goes to the FCE Rheine, which again this year provided a venue, the referees as well as hardworking helpers behind the scenes, who ensured a smooth process and excellent catering. In the course of the evening, the first registrations for the next edition of this great traditional tournament were already made.
