Flowing light

Poems and live musical improvisations from the land of snowy darkness and nocturnal brightness.

The Rheine Municipal Museums, the GWK Society for Westphalian Cultural Work and the parish of St. Dionysius invite you to a poetic concert reading on Tuesday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dionysius Church on the market square.

Under the title “Fließendes Licht” (Flowing Light), the writer Dorothea Grünzweig, who has lived in Finland since 1989, will present her musical and word-creative poems, rich in images of Nordic landscapes and worlds of the soul. In addition, the multiple award-winning lyricist will give an insight into her poetic workshop. She will be accompanied by the Finnish violinist Laura Kokko.

In Kokko’s multi-layered and suggestive improvisations, which also incorporate electronic sounds, the poetic images of the renowned poet expand into impressive sound spaces and voices of nature. Both artists interact in a stream of sounds of language and music that carries and captivates. Dorothea Grünzweig reads from her volumes of poetry “Kaamos Kosmos” (2014) and “Plötzlich alles da” (2020), published by Wallstein Verlag in Göttingen.

In the light, gothic architecture of St. Dionysius, words and sounds can unfold their effect in a richly relational way. The organizers are therefore very pleased that this concert reading, originally planned for the 500th anniversary of the church in 2020, can now be made up for. Admission is free on this evening. Further information, also on the current Corona protection measures, is available from the visitor’s office of the Rheine Municipal Museums at Tel. 05971 – 920610.
