WeDo in the city library Rheine

Rheine. Even before the official opening of the library in October, the first event will take place in the new premises of the interim solution at Osnabrücker Straße 84. In cooperation with the vocational college Rheine, its support association Lernwerkstatt 4.0 and the EWG, the elementary schools of the city Rheine have purchased Lego WeDo boxes in 2018 to provide a low-threshold introduction to the topic of programming and robotics for all elementary school students.

With the move to the interim solution, the City Library is now adopting the Lego WeDo boxes so that they are available for loan to all library users. The boxes consist of a storage box with sorting trays containing the Lego bricks. The Smarthub is the control element of the models, which makes it possible to carry out the commands previously entered via an app using an attached tablet. A small motor, a motion sensor and a tilt sensor complete the set. In this way, children can learn initial programming via an appropriately child-friendly app that relies on the drag-and-drop function, and later already venture into more elaborate models. Within the app, children can either choose from existing projects or create their own.

In order to make the offer tangible, an event will take place on 13.10.2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to officially hand over the LegoWeDo boxes to the city library and present the new offer. For this, students of the vocational college Rheine with their teacher Torsten Strecke will explain and show the handling of WeDo live to the elementary school students. The event is free of charge, but prior registration is required by calling 05971 939 160 or sending an e-mail to . Places are limited to 25 participants.
