Themed tour “Tricks of the trade” at the Falkenhof Museum

The themed tours in the Falkenhof Museum go into the next round. For the fourth time now, a focus from the museum’s diverse collection will be presented on Thursday, September 1 at 4 pm. This Thursday, the focus will be on works of art from the 20th century, as the museum houses a valuable fund of paintings and graphics from the past century, in addition to many exhibits from the city history of Rhine. The majority of the works come from the Kasimir Hagen art collection, a donation from the Cologne collector couple Kasimir and Helene Hagen, which the museum has housed since 1964. During the tour, museum educator Alexandra Dolezych presents selected paintings, including the “Family Picture” by Rheine-born Carlo Mense, painted around 1918, and traces the stylistic diversity that characterizes the art scene of the 20th century. From Expressionism, Cubism and the New Objectivity of the first decades, the view extends to the abstract compositions that have significantly shaped the art scene since the post-war period until today. Two exciting, very contrasting artistic positions bring the tour in the Graphic Arts Cabinet to a close. One of them is the Bauhaus artist Josef Albers, who achieved world fame with his series of color square paintings. Participation costs €5 per person, a 4-person ticket is available for €16. It is also valid for guided tours in the Museum Kloster Bentlage and in the Josef-Winckler-Haus. Information: 05971 – 920610.
