21 young people participate in the exchange between the twin cities Rheine and Leiria (Portugal)

Rheine/Leiria. A little “topsy-turvy world”. In Rheines twin town in Portugal Leiria it is cloudy today with 24 degrees. In Rheine the sun shines from a cloudless sky and provides 31 degrees of heat. Temperatures that remind the 21 young people and their companions very much of home.

They arrived yesterday, the long-awaited young people from the twin town of Leiria. In the exchange with pupils of the commercial school, the Dionysianum and the Kopernikus high school the 21 young people with their responsible persons spend an interesting time in Rheine until next Thursday. In October then the return visit in Leiria will take place.

Available for questions from the students (from left): Reinmund Gausmann, Fabian Lenz, Lisete Perreira and her husband Toni as well as “chief organizer” Clemens Schöppker from the board of the twinning association.

Traditionally, a reception in the town hall was on the agenda today on the first day. The deputy mayor, Fabian Lenz, had invited the guests to the council hall. Social department head Reimund Gausmann informed the students about the areas of school and youth.

Finally, they went up to the town hall. From here, the young people had a wonderful overview of their host city.
