Rheine. On Sunday, June 25, 2023, in the city park will play live not one but two ensembles. Part one of the program of this year’s City Park Concerts this Sunday is the group Strauhspier, known in Rheine.
At 14.00 the trio will appear before the audience and give an hour and a half concert in the city park Rheine. The winners of the 1991 Culture Prize are looking forward to a concert in their homeland. Strauhspier enjoys the Low German language and making music. They connect generations with each other. In their songs Strauhspier sing about the daily tragicomic banal, say: love, lust and kale. They are the straw to hold on to for all those who do not want to let the Low German language die!
From 16.30 o’clock then provides in the second part the Shantychor Rheine 2013 registered association for tendency in the city park. “We are pleased to finally be able to perform here again,” says choir chairman Stephan Prinzmeier. In the traditional series “Stadtparkkonzerte” of the city Rheine, ensembles and choirs, but also vocal soloists and instrumentalists are invited every year to sing and make music for their fellow citizens.
The Shantychor Rheine, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, appears before the audience with a mixture of well-known shanties and sea shanties. “We are washed with all waters! It is important to us that our joy passes from the stage to the audience,” reports Prinzmeier. From performances in Rheine to the big stages at the Hamburg Harbor Festival and in the Netherlands, the shanty choir has already made it. “With wind in our sails and power in our voices, we’ve been around quite a bit,” the choir’s chairman says proudly. “But our home port, is still our favorite place.”
The City Park Concerts take place every second and fourth Sunday from the end of May to the end of August in the City Park Rheine. Admission is free. In the city park restaurant there is the possibility during a cup of coffee to listen to the music. The City Park Concerts are organized by the City’s Cultural Service Rheine. The city is supported in the organization by Schürmann Catering and Eventmanagement and the Stadtparkverein Rheine.
