SPD councilwoman Ulrike Stockel resigns her council seat

Much praise and thanks for the farewell

With a large bouquet of flowers and a standing ovation, the SPD parliamentary group thanked Ulrike Stockel. For 13 years she belonged to the parliamentary group of the SPD Rheine and was deputy parliamentary group chairman. “Today, Monday, I resigned my mandate as a councilwoman of the city Rheine for personal reasons. This decision was really not easy for me. It was a great time that we can look back on together as a team,” Ulrike Stockel explained to the parliamentary group. SPD faction chairman Dominik Bems found the right words, which spoke from the soul of all faction members: “Dear Ulrike, you have rendered outstanding services in the areas of social affairs and schools with a great deal of competence, willingness to talk and compromise across faction boundaries in the committees and in the work of the council. We thank you very much for your many years of tireless commitment to our group and also to the citizens of the city Rheine.” Completely from the policy out, does not want Ulrike Stockel and wants as deputy expert citizen further to be available.

Stockel gave up at the same time also its internal office as deputy parliamentary group chairmen, so that it came also within the SPD parliamentary group to changes. Dominik Bems was confirmed in the office of the parliamentary group chairman in the elections of the parliamentary group executive committee, which took place according to schedule. Otherwise there was a personnel rochade in the parliamentary group executive committee: Gaby Leskow was elected as deputy parliamentary group chairman. Volker Brauer takes over Leskow’s duties as executive director. Brauer’s position as press spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group is now held by Councilor André Schaper. “Who will take over for Ulrike Stockel on the council still needs to be clarified. There will also be some changes in the committees,” explained SPD faction chairman Dominik Bems. However, it is hoped that everything will have been taken care of by January 2023 in order to be fully operational again for the work in the new year.
