A TWO-HEADED MONKEY?

The Liszt monkeys have had offspring. The twins were born on November 10 and are currently still being carried around by their parents and siblings. This can give the impression that our Liszt monkeys have two heads.

The little monkeys with the remarkable hairstyle are found exclusively in a small area in the northwest of Colombia and are classified as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List, the highest threat category . European zoos cooperate in the breeding of this species and the young animals are important for the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP). The EEP for the liszt monkeys is run by Bristol Zoo in England.

The liszt monkeys are also popular sponsored animals at our zoo. A sponsorship for a liszt monkey or other animals makes a wonderful Christmas present and can easily be purchased online via our ZooShop(store.naturzoo.de/sponsorships/).
