One million stars for a fairer world!

Eine Million Sterne leuchten im November bundesweit. In Rheine setzt die Caritas Rheine am 11. November ab 16 Uhr auf dem Marktplatz ein Zeichen der Hoffnung.

On November 11, 2022 at 4 p.m. at the marketplace in Rheine/candles for a small donation.

Rheine.cpr. In November 2022, Caritas in Germany is once again organizing the “One Million Stars” solidarity campaign. Throughout Germany, Caritas associations under the leadership of Caritas international, the relief organization of the German Caritas, set a sign of hope – for people in need here and around the world.

Caritas employees and citizens will light candles and light up public places. Caritas Rheine will also participate in this action and set its sign of hope on Friday November 11, 2022 at 4 pm in the market square in Rheine. Caritas Rheine cordially invites you, warm drinks will be offered.

The candles can be purchased either directly on November 11 at the marketplace or in advance at the Caritas Info Center in the Caritas House, Lingener Straße 11 in Rheine for a symbolic donation of 3 euros. The proceeds of the action in Rheine go in each case to Caritas international as well as to leisure offers of the advice center for humans with handicap of Caritas Rheine.

In the focus of the action the assistance of the Caritas international in Colombia is located this year. Against the backdrop of the Caritas annual campaign #DasMachenWirGemeinsam, Caritas international is supporting an aid project for children and young people who have fled with their parents from Venezuela to Colombia. They don’t show up at any Colombian school, sports field, doctor. Their parents came to visit or cross the green border to Colombia and stayed. Because there was no more work for them in Venezuela or their meager wages were not even enough for one meal a day. Almost two million Venezuelan migrants are registered in Colombia. But no one knows how many there actually are. More than half of them have no regular residence status and thus no work permit and no protection against exploitation and violence.

The donations that benefit the counseling center for people with disabilities are used for a wide range of services for people with disabilities. Various leisure and group offers provide relief for relatives and offer the chance for an inclusive, active and self-determined leisure time. These include, for example, day trips to amusement parks, concerts or sporting events. But travel offers or Zumba courses can also be supported.
