Museums: opening hours at Easter

The Easter holidays are a good time to visit the museum – with family, friends or even alone. Everyone is welcome here. The municipal museums Rheine invite you to free museum visits at the following times: The Falkenhof Museum and the Museum Kloster Bentlage are open Good Friday, Easter Sunday and also Easter Monday, each from 10 am – 6 pm. On Saturday, April 8, the usual opening hours of 2 – 6 pm apply. The Josef Winckler Museum in the Salzsiedehaus opens on Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday from 2 – 6 pm. During a stroll through the exhibition rooms, you can discover familiar and perhaps also new things, for example in the graphic cabinet of the Falkenhof, where a series of prints by Rolf Escher as well as drawings by various artists can be seen under the title “Von Büchern und Bäumen” (“Of Books and Trees”). Otherwise, depending on one’s own interests, one can set one’s own priorities, starting with coins from the Roman period found in Rheine or medieval works of art and ending with modernist painting in the Westphalian Gallery of the Museum Kloster Bentlage. In the paintings of Otto Modersohn, Bernhard Pankok, Christian Rohlfs or August Macke, one can understand how artists around 1900 created a monument to spring in bright landscapes and colorful blossoms. Admission to the permanent exhibitions of the municipal museums is free not only at Easter, but also on the other days of the year, and interested visitors can find an initial overview of the focal points of the collection at www.Rheine.de/falkenhof. Further information is available from the visitors’ bureau on tel. 05971 – 939 711.
