Castles and palaces day in Rheine

The sixth Castles and Palaces Day attracts visitors with a diverse program. More than 30 estates, noble residences and former monasteries are taking part this year in the Münsterland region. On Sunday, June 18, there is much history and at the same time also current cultural events to enjoy. The program takes place both in the historical buildings and under free sky and is completely on the central Internet side observable www.schloessertag.de.In the falcon yard museum Rheine can experience the visitor:inside on this day with the “7-Highlights-Führung”, which exciting stories hide themselves behind individual objects of the museum collection. These special looks at selected “treasures” of the Falkenhof Museum have been put together for the guests by the two museum guides Christel Mahlmann and Marianne Probst and will also deal with the former noble inhabitants of the house and the past of the Emsstadt. Two free tours are offered, starting at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the live speakers in the Museum Kloster Bentlage await interested guests to engage in relaxed conversation and to answer questions in a knowledgeable manner. For example, they may ask why and when the former crusader monastery was converted into a castle. The new special exhibition “Johanna Love. Drawing in the Garden of Infinite Time,” which combines such exciting topics as relic dust, microscopy and the art of drawing. Admission to the special exhibition is free on this day.
