Rheine. On Tuesday, the reconstruction and extension of the Paul Gerhardt School and the new sports hall were inaugurated.
Rheines alderman Raimund Gausmann was pleased with the result and on the occasion of the inauguration expressed his sincere thanks to all those who were involved in the reconstruction.
As part of the elementary school offensive, the school was expanded on all sides of the building. This created more space for the new auditorium, the self-learning center and the new cafeteria. At the same time, the original school building was renovated and brought up to the latest technical standards.
The new sports hall was planned and implemented together with the school expansion. In the future, the single-field sports hall will be available to the Paul Gerhardt School as well as other schools, such as the Elsa Brandström Secondary School. Club and recreational sports can also use the sports hall outside of school hours.
In addition to the buildings, the schoolyard was also redesigned and given a green classroom, among other things.
For the duration of the work, the school moved into the building of the former Overbergschule.
