Yesterday evening was a very special moment: for the first time we were invited by our parner city Borne to the national memorial day (“Nationale Dodenherdenking”). Every year on May 4, the Dutch victims of the Second World War are commemorated in the Netherlands. Together with Reiner Wellmann, the chairman of our association for the promotion of the town twinning of the city of Rheine e.V., I was able to participate in a very impressive and very well attended commemoration ceremony there. A strong and friendly gesture from mayor Jan Pierik. Thank you Jan! This means a lot to us!
