Possible evacuation of the adjacent areas next Wednesday

RheineIn the course of exploratory measures by the NRW Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service, another suspected bomb was discovered in the Kettelerufer area . Exposure is planned for Wednesday, 16.10.2024,

to determine whether it is an explosive ordnance. As is usual in such cases, a specialist company will first uncover the suspected point, after which the

explosive ordnance disposal service will then determine whether it is explosive ordnance. If the suspicion is confirmed, immediate defusing and subsequent removal is planned. In this case, a short-term evacuation of the adjacent areas is necessary. The attached map shows which buildings are affected. The evacuation will be

announced via Radio RST, the city’s website Rheine (www.Rheine.de) and loudspeaker announcements in the affected streets. Unfortunately, it is not possible to give an exact duration at this stage

time, as it depends on various factors (e.g. exact depth and location of the suspected point, size of any explosive ordnance and condition of the detonator). The lifting of the evacuation

or if the suspected case is not confirmed will also be published on the aforementioned channels. Exposure will begin at around 10:00 am.
