Christophorus-Schule: Headmaster Wilfried Heeke retires / Barbara Kammer takes over as successor

Rheine.cpr. After more than 30 years of commitment to the Christophorus School, the special school with a focus on mental development of Caritas Rheine, Wilfried Heeke was retired as principal. At the Christophorus School, Heeke was bid farewell by the board of directors, management staff, teaching staff, parents, students and other professional and personal companions. In recognition of his special commitment, Caritas board members Dieter Fühner and Ludger Schröer presented the Caritas Gold Badge of Honor on behalf of the German Caritas Association and the Diocesan Caritas Association of Münster.

On September 1, 1992, Wilfried Heeke began his service at the Christophorus School in a pre-school class. The physical education subjects of sports and swimming were particularly close to his heart. Here he initiated and organized the school’s own and district-wide sports festivals. Wilfried Heeke was a committed colleague from the very beginning. He was, for example, a member of the teachers’ council, coached the acrobatics group and also looked after the soccer team “Team HPZ”, which took part in regular matches at FC Eintracht Rheine. From 2007 to 2009, he was in charge of the Comenius project with special schools in Lithuania and Great Britain.

In 2007 Wilfried Heeke became deputy principal. On March 1, 2009, Wilfried Heeke took over as head of school after Dorothee Rücker retired. “As principal, Wilfried Heeke performs his duties with great commitment, heart and humor. In everything he does at the school, he shows how important the entrusted students and the teaching staff are to him. His door is always open,” emphasized board member Dieter Fühner in his laudatory speech. With a great sense of responsibility, a high level of professional competence and tireless commitment, far beyond the normal level, Wilfried Heeke has shaped the work of the Christophorus School.

With the retirement of Wilfried Heeke, Barbara Kammer, previously deputy principal of the Grüterschule, now takes over as principal. “We are pleased to have succeeded in recruiting Barbara Kammer, an experienced principal, to succeed Wilfried Heeke,” Fühner said. Sarah Reckenfelderbäumer will continue to be active in the school management as deputy principal.
