Caritas Emstor Workshops: Annette Roes retired / Golden Caritas pin of honor
Rheine. cpr. After more than 35 years of commitment to Caritas Rheine with a special focus on the Caritas-Emstor workshops, Annette Roes, as head of social services and deputy workshop manager, was bid farewell to retirement. At the Caritas-Emstor workshops, Roes was bid farewell by the board of directors, management staff and employees, as well as other companions. In recognition of her special commitment, Caritas board members Dieter Fühner and Ludger Schröer presented the Caritas Gold Badge of Honor on behalf of the German Caritas Association and the Diocesan Caritas Association of Münster.
Since the opening of the Caritas Emstor Workshops, as a workshop for people with disabilities, in May 1986, Annette Roes has been active in the social service of the workshop. In joint work with the workshop manager, Heinz Thalmann and two group leaders, the development began. An-nette Roes was entrusted with the task of building up the social service of the Caritas-Emstor workshops. With 34 “handicapped” employees, the Caritas-Emstor-Werkstätten began operations. Today, more than 500 people with disabilities and about 125 employees work in the workshop.
Especially in the early years, ingenuity and creativity were required from the employees of the first hour. At the beginning of this time, for example, a private car was used to transport work materials and materials, and behind it a privately borrowed horse trailer, Dieter Fühner recalled in his laudation of the workshop’s beginnings.
Until today, the workshop has grown steadily. After its start on Stolbergstrasse, a new building was created on Edisonstrasse in the early 2000s. In 2020, the branch workshop at Sandkamp was opened. What was once a small Caritas Emstor workshop has now grown into a workshop that makes a decisive contribution to a significant economic and social factor here in the Rheine region and beyond.
In all these years, Annette Roes took on the development and creation of new jobs for disabled people with the utmost commitment and dedication. Here, for example, the establishment of the bike station at the train station and the creation of outside workplaces, for example in the KAFFEEHAUS, should also be highlighted. “With a great sense of responsibility, high professional competence and tireless commitment, far beyond the normal level, she was constantly present for the Caritas-Emstor-Werkstätten. She was always approachable for anyone and everyone, had an open ear for everyone, both employees and co-workers,” Fühner emphasized Annette Roes’ extraordinary commitment.
