There was a wonderful Easter surprise at the Gymnasium Dionysianum on Friday: 8825,17 Euro were handed over to the Town Twinning Association for the campaign “Friends help Friends”.

After there was already a minute of silence for the Ukrainian population at the Gymnasium Dionysianum as well as different signs of solidarity in the school everyday life (see homepage: https://www.dionysianum.de/), the school council had proposed in its meeting on March 7. In its meeting on March 7, the school council proposed to give the students the opportunity to actively support the people in Ukraine.

There was broad support from the parents as well as from the students, because each station needed supervisors or timekeepers.Students* from grades 6 to 9 were represented in large numbers and they all did a very good job.”Without this valuable help, the implementation of the challenges would not have been possible,” reported Inga Doumat and combined this statement with a huge thank you.

For three days, the schoolyard was transformed into a bustling anthill.Laughter and cheers rang out across the schoolyard, it was a very boisterous and happy atmosphere.Absences due to illness, which can always be expected at the moment, were compensated for by spontaneous support on the respective days.

“All in all, it was a very successful fundraising challenge and we are very happy that we were able to help theTown Twinning Association in Rheine this incredible donation of 8825.17 euros,” said Inga Doumat.

The deputy chairwoman of the town twinning association, Irja Erben, and treasurer Ingrid Brauer thanked the entire school community for their commitment and the fantastic donation. They assured that every cent will reach the Ukrainian twin towns of Trakai, the twin town of Rheine, without any bureaucracy. Mainly medicines, medical aids but also food and hygiene articles will reach the hospitals and thus the people directly.
