Rheine. On the banks of the Carpenter you can see that the flood level has dropped slightly. However, weather forecasters are predicting more rain for the weekend. The piled up sandbags in Mühlenstraße have now been reinforced again, so the Emsmühle and the FBS building are still protected. However, the basement of the Emsmühle has probably suffered major damage from the intrusion of Ems water.

Due to flooding, work will remain restricted and visitors will not be able to enter. The situation is difficult; the animals can still be cared for; individual animals are housed in alternative enclosures. We thank you for your support and assistance and will keep you updated on the situation at the zoo.”
