Rheine. cpr. After over 35 years of commitment in the Caritas Rheine with the special emphasis in the work for and with humans with handicap Willi Rieps, as director of the advisory center for humans with handicap and their members was discharged into the retirement. At the Centro S. Antonio, Rieps was bid farewell by the department management, colleagues, employees and other companions. In recognition of her special commitment, Head of Department Stefan Gude, representing the Board of Directors, presented the Caritas Gold Badge of Honor on behalf of the German Caritas Association and the Diocesan Caritas Association of Münster.

Stefan Gude emphasized the extraordinary commitment of Willi Rieps in the counseling work of people with disabilities. Through his farsightedness and competence in terms of content and expertise, Willi Rieps was always able to recognize needs and develop concepts and offers from them. “When it comes to the goals of the counseling center’s work, he rarely lets up. When it comes to the demands for his clients, he is extremely persistent. People in Rheine know that, and so our advice center is a good place to go when it comes to the worries, needs and help of people with disabilities and their relatives,” said Gude during the laudation.

For more than 35 years, Willi Rieps, as an employee, leader and person who likes people, has put himself at the service of Caritas and here, in particular, the counseling and support of people with disabilities and their relatives. He has left an unmistakable mark on the counseling center and all it offers.

Willi Rieps began his Caritas Rheine time in 1986 as a social worker in the social-pedagogical family assistance. In November 1992, Rieps moved to the counseling center for people with disabilities and their relatives. In 2003, Willi Rieps took over the management of the counseling center. With the retirement of Willi Rieps, Ulrike Stockel, previously an employee in the counseling center, will now take over the management.
