Where donations do good

Town twinning association looks back on the year 2024 at Christmas party

Rheine. The town twinning association Rheine brought this year’s events to a close with a pre-Christmas get-together in the event room of the Caritas children’s home. 40 members gathered to chat over coffee and homemade cake and to hear a preview of events in the new year. Board member Gerd Cosse gave an update on the status of aid projects for traumatized children in the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions of Ukraine.

Chairman Reiner Wellmann thanked the many volunteer members who had made this afternoon possible through their involvement. He drew attention to two trips with the Deutschland- und Europapolitisches Bildungswerk in the coming year. One trip will take place in mid-March to the German-Polish border region. It is now fully booked. Another trip at the end of August will be to the Trier and Luxembourg region. A few places are still available. Registrations can be made with DEPB Tecklenburg, T. 05482/93980. A citizens’ trip to Bernburg to one of the well-known town festivals is also in preparation. And together with the partner committee Borne, the association is planning a one-day cycle tour in the Overijssel region.

Gerd Cosse showed how the town twinning association supports several projects for traumatized children in the Ukraine with small and targeted aid. The good cooperation with an employee of the Caritas children’s home is ideal. The members are happy to support these aid campaigns, as demonstrated by the well-filled piggy bank that was passed from table to table that afternoon. www.friendsineurope.com
