Rheine. The air raid of November 8, 1944 was rather unknown until about two years ago. In an event held last year, it could be noticed that the interest for this event is very high, however. Therefore, this information event will be held again, and results of historical research will be presented, which were not considered in the commemorative culture of our city until about two years ago.
Historian André Schaper will report on previous research results and Heinz Schulte will present a film made from interviews with contemporary witnesses. More than 90 victims were killed in the air raid on November 8, 1944, most of them by direct hits of the railroad underpass at Staelskottenweg. The information event will take place on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Mitte 51 refectory, Mittelstraße 51, 48431 Rheine. All interested citizens are cordially invited to attend.
