Rheine. The city of Rheine and the twinning association are expecting a delegation from the twin city Bernburg from October 1 to 3 for the Bernburg days. The new Lord Mayor Dr. Sonja Ristow (Die Linke) will also visit the Emsstadt for the first time. Ristow had been elected on October 17, 2021 in a runoff election with almost 70 percent of the votes to succeed the long-time mayor Henry Schütze.After arrival, the town twinning association will welcome the group on Sunday at a dinner. On Monday, October 2, a guided tour of the anniversary salt exhibition in the Falkenhof is first on the agenda. In the afternoon, the group will explore the city under the expert guidance of Deputy Mayor Karl-Heinz Brauer. A visit to the former barracks and current construction areas will be just as much a part of the tour as a tour of the major investments in the North Industrial Estate.In the evening, a joint celebration in the Salzsiedehaus is on the agenda. Representatives of the parliamentary groups and members of the twinning association are also invited. Mayor Dr. Sonja Ristow and Mayor Dr. Peter Lüttmann will pay tribute to the partnership and highlight potential for the future. The evening celebration will conclude with a reception.On National Day, October 3, the Bernburger and their hosts will visit the Market of Opportunities around the town hall. The town twinning association will also be represented there with a stand and a raffle. In the afternoon, the Bernburger will then travel back to their hometown.

Visit from the twin town Bernburg
Im vergangenen Jahr radelte eine Gruppe aus Rheine und Borne zu dem Partnertag nach Bernburg. Engelbert Nagelschmidt und seine Mitradlerinnen und Mitradler wurden nach der Ankunft von Oberbürgermeisterin Dr. Sonja Ristow begrüßt. In diesem Jahr kommen die Bernburger nach Rheine, allerdings nicht mit dem Rad.
