Vacation programs for 10-14 year olds

Kulturrucksack: Four courses at the Falkenhof Museum

Be creative yourself, discover new techniques and maybe even make new friends – that sums up the summer vacation program for 10-14 year old children and teenagers at the Falkenhof Museum. Four different creative courses are offered by museum educator Alexandra Dolezych starting Monday, August 1; they take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. Participants can attend one, several or all four courses, depending on their mood. On Monday, Aug. 1, participants will work with clay in the studio and try out how to decorate porcelain and ceramics. On Wednesday, Aug. 3, it’s on to gilding. Using imitation precious metal sheets, we will try out a centuries-old technique that makes small objects shine beautifully.

Children and young people who prefer to be creative in color are invited to the museum on Friday, August 5. On this day, self-portraits will be created with acrylic paints and canvas. The historical paintings in the museum offer inspiration for this. Another special activity is on the program for the final day on Monday, August 8: participants can create small series of pictures themselves using the two printing techniques of linocut and etching. Of course, all day courses offer the opportunity to implement your own ideas.

All courses are offered within the framework of the “Kulturrucksack NRW”, a support program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which has been successfully carried out in Rheine and the district of Steinfurt for many years. As a result, participation is free of charge for all children and young people. Work is done in small groups, and participants are asked to bring their own drinks and food for the lunch break. Registration is required and can be made via the website rheine.feripro.de. For more information, please contact the visitors’ bureau of the municipal museums at 05971-920610.
