Unity digging on 3 October – also Rheine participates again

Rheine. Under the hashtag #Einheitsbuddeln, the German Unity Day initiative is taking place again. All German citizens are called upon to plant a tree on October 3. The city of Rheine is participating in this campaign again this year and is digging along.

So that everyone can join in the digging, the city and TBR will prepare public planting areas. There, citizens who want to participate can plant their personal tree in the planting area at Hünenborg. The holes themselves have a diameter of about 20 cm and are about 30 cm deep. So anyone who is interested and wants to actively participate in the digging can bring native woody plants such as maple, birch, beech or hazel with them on German Unity Day and plant them in one of the prepared holes. The planting tool is to be brought along thereby.

In addition, the experts of the TBR ask again this year not to plant exotics, but to use the native trees, as they are best suited for the location and climate. It goes without saying that all plant pots and other utensils brought along will be taken back and disposed of at home. In the future, the permanent care of the new trees will be taken over by the green spaces department of the Technical Services.
