Saxony-Anhalt’s Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, Dr. Jürgen Ude, presented the certification certificate to Patrick Rödiger, manager of Bernburg Youth Hostel, as part of the nationwide “Travel for All” project.

“As a former residential town, Bernburg offers its visitors a variety of opportunities that are always worth a trip,” said State Secretary Dr. Ude. In addition to Bernburg Castle, also known as “Anhalt’s crown,” Bernburg scores points with its “Lower Saale Valley” nature park, historic town center and lively city life, among other things. “Everyone should be able to convince themselves of the historical, cultural and scenic diversity of the region without any worries. Also people with handicap or special needs should experience our popular vacation region as far as possible without restrictions. Accessibility is a key quality feature that enhances vacation comfort for all guests,” continued State Secretary Dr. Ude.

Last year, Bernburg (Saale) was awarded the title of “1st barrier-free certified tourist resort in Saxony-Anhalt”. The prerequisite for this was a specified number of at least nine certified facilities, which represents the basic framework for vacation offers suitable for the target group. This includes Bernburg Youth Hostel, which, as a municipal facility, met the project’s quality standards for the second time. Among other things, the youth hostel has step-free entrances, wide doors, large movement areas, rooms with WCs for people with disabilities.
