Field of action Intercultural opening invite the trainees to the Speed Meeting and Meet & Eat

Rheine.cpr. Trainees of the city Rheine were invited to the Intercultural Meeting Center Centro S. Antonio of Caritas Rheine. Under the guidance of Johanna Miltrup from the city Rheine and Kevin Löcke from the Caritas Association Rheine the trainees first received a workshop on intercultural competence.

Afterwards, the immigrants joined them as multipliers. In a “speed meeting”, everyone exchanged views in short conversations and gained exciting insights from the people sitting opposite them. The afternoon was rounded off with a joint cooking session. The immigrant people brought the ingredients of their favorite dishes and a diverse menu was conjured up in the kitchen. There were Mongolian dumplings, a bulgur dish from Syria, a delicious Afghan rice pan with lamb and a Ukrainian curd cake as dessert.

At the joint dinner, the exchange was deepened and contacts were made. All participants agreed that it was a successful and colorful afternoon. All people experienced diverse cultures on this day. “It was phenomenal that you can meet and experience many new people in one afternoon,” summed up a trainee from the city Rheine. “It’s incredible how diverse the program was today,” added one participant.

Kevin Löcke and Johanna Miltrup, as those responsible for the field of action of intercultural opening of the migration and integration concept, organized this cooperation together with the training manager of the city Rheine Florentine Kühs-Sandmann. It is planned to offer the project for the other training years as well.
