Themed tour “The falconry and its inhabitants”.

Besonders beeindruckend ist der Morriensaal des Falkenhofes, in dem die Porträts der Mitglieder der Familie von Morrien hängen. Münsterland e.V./Philipp Fölting

On Sunday, March 26 at 3 pm at the Falkenhof Museum.

Today the Falkenhof is a museum of city history. And in the past? The building monument with its three-winged complex and a pigeon fountain in the front impresses not only with the curved baroque staircase. Museum visitors discover rooms that bear witness to the stately self-image of the former inhabitants and find numerous traces of days gone by. But:

To whom do we owe these? And: Who might have previously celebrated in the magnificent Morriensaal and bequeathed the museum’s rich trove of porcelain, faience and Venetian glass? What the families of Morrien and von Valke are all about and much more will be explained by the tour guide Christel Mahlmann in a special themed tour this coming Sunday at 3 pm. In addition to portraits, coats of arms and medals worn by three elegant ladies, the tour will also include leather shoes in children’s sizes, marbles and pancake plates. Many exciting stories about the noble families that have made the Falkenhof more and more representative over the centuries bring to life an interesting aspect of the town’s history Rheine.
