Works by important artists such as Otto Modersohn, August Macke and Josef Albers can be seen every day in Rheine – on permanent loan from the LWL Museum of Art and Culture, Münster. Back in 1996, the “Westphalian Gallery” was opened as part of the Museum Kloster Bentlage. Here, museum visitors, attracted and often surprised by the quality and diversity of the works, learn about the contribution made to the development of art in the 20th century in Westphalia and by Westphalian artists.

Dr. Tanja Pirsig-Marshall, Modernism Officer and Deputy Director of the LWL Museum of Art and Culture, Münster, will introduce the history and concept of the presentation of the Westphalian Gallery in a lecture on Sunday, 27.03.22 at 3 p.m. and provide interesting insights into her work. Afterwards, provenance researcher Eline van Dijk will present the paths that the works exhibited in Bentlage have taken from their creation to their entry into the museum’s collection. For the researcher from the Münster museum, the backs of the paintings are sometimes more revealing in her work than the painted representations on the front. The two lectures complement each other and take the audience on an art discovery tour.

Between the lectures, each lasting about 40 minutes in the ballroom, refreshments will be offered at a break, which are included in the admission of €5 per person. 3G proof is required to attend the lecture and a medical mask or FFP-2 mask must be worn.
