Bus on its way to Leiria stops overnight in Rheine – accommodation in Gertrudenstift
It is expected that 54 refugees from Ukraine will arrive inRheine today around 11 pm. Mainly women and children are there, between two monthsand 77 years. Our twin town Leiria has arranged for a bus transfer toPortugal. In the morning the bus with the refugees, two driversand three escorts started in Warsaw. The friends from Leiria had asked our associationto provide accommodation and meals. The Gertrudenstift inBentlage gladly followed this request and will host the people tonight.After breakfast tomorrow, Sunday, they will continue to Leiria with anotherstopover in France.
Members of our board packed up jute bags today and tookthem to the Gertrudenstift and will distribute them upon arrival. For the children there are painting utensils, cocoa andsweets, for the adults hygiene products, toothbrushes, toothpaste,shower shampoo and the like. Also two baby beds were procured, so that alsothe smallest ones will experience a quiet night.
Already now a big thank you goes to the Gertrudenstift for thereception and to supporting companies. A part of the things, which are made available to the refugees, were financed from the donation account “friends helpfriends”. Therefore, also here a big thank you to thedonors.
