Rheine. “I was totally excited – but once you’ve tasted blood again, it’s total fun.” One reader’s excitement is easy to understand when you consider that, in the end, more than 180 students attended the Bookslams to kick off the ReadingSummer at the municipal library. Of course, not all of them were there at the same time, but always two classes from schools in Rheine and the surrounding area at the same time. As an expectant audience, you experienced how literature came alive. Scenically or read aloud by the theater group “RRrreaction!” of the drug counseling center Rheine under the direction of Daniela Nathaus and some volunteer readers of the public library.
From the “punished” wizard from the Middle Ages to Greg Heffley, who probably doesn’t need to be introduced to anyone anymore due to the much-read diaries, a lot was offered. All in all, an absolutely successful start to the LeseSommer 2022 in the municipal library. And there is much more to come: on a table in the multifunctional area, reading tips on various topics can be found in weekly rotation. Readers can be surprised to find out what is hidden in some of the books…reading is worthwhile!
Artistically talented people and those who would like to learn how to do it have the opportunity to take part in a manga drawing course. Two young people from the theater group “Rrreaction!” will explain how it works. Previous knowledge is not necessary.
A premiere will take place on 29.07.2022. Rhein author Kim Leopold will read from the final volume of the California Dreams series, “The fire in your heart,” which has just been newly published at the time of the reading.
The end of the ReadingSummer also means that the library is about to move, so a “demolition weekend” will take place. There will be something for young and old. On Saturday evening, Aug. 20, Theater ex Libris will come and perform the live radio play “Dracula” for adults. The professional speakers will make the spooky material a special experience. The following Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022 then belongs to all children. The illustrator Charlotte Hofmann will draw a comic live. No one has to attend a drawing course for this, but the illustrator takes the creative, funny and exciting ideas from the audience and draws the comic strip from them. Spectators can therefore follow the creation in the moment.
Tickets for all events can only be purchased in person at the library. A maximum of 2 tickets per person will be given out, as seats are limited and in high demand.
