Benefit concert on Sunday for the people of Rheines twin town Leira

Rheine. Sending a sign of solidarity and solidarity towards Leiria – that is the aim of a benefit concert that the town twinning association Rheine is organizing with the support of the city of Rheine this Sunday, 1 March, at 5 pm in the Dionyskirche. Five choirs and music groups will be performing under the motto “Rheine helps Leiria”. Admission to this event is free, but the organizers will ask for a donation at the end for the aid campaign for the Portuguese twin city.

The women’s choir Cantus Reni will also be taking part.
BallyBorne from Borne will also be taking part.

The Soalbate choir will kick things off after a welcome address from the mayor. Then the little ones take to the stage: the Jekits children’s choirs from the Bodelschwinghschule and Südeschschule music schools at Rheine. This is followed by the folk group “BallyBorne” from the Dutch twin town. The women’s choir Cantus Reni will then perform and after a joint prayer for peace, all the choirs will perform together in a finale. The program will last a good hour.

“We were particularly pleased that the group BallyBorne from our Dutch twin town directly offered to perform here in Rheine as part of the charity concert. They will certainly provide an interesting contrast to the Rheiner choirs,” says Reiner Wellmann, chairman of the town twinning association. He was very pleased that well-known and distinguished choirs from Rheine immediately agreed to take part in the concert.

The proceeds from the collection after the concert and the fundraising campaign that has been running for two weeks will be donated to the Portuguese twin town to help the families who have been particularly affected. A hurricane and the subsequent flooding caused damage amounting to 1.5 to 2 billion euros in the Leiria area.

Donation account “Rheine helps Leiria”: IBAN DE44 4035 0005 0000 0708 39. Recipient: Town twinning association.
