Renovation of the bridge Basilikastraße to the city park completed

Rheine. Faster than planned, the pedestrian bridge on Basilikastraße to the city park has now been completed. As Martin Forstmann, the responsible head of the Road and Construction Department of Rheine’s Technical Works, announced today, “the planned renovation measure could be implemented now rather than in the summer”. The surface of the bridge was rebuilt by applying a non-slip and durable coating made of a glass fiber composite. The bridge’s old railing also had to give way. Not only had the storm damaged the wood, but the height of the railing had to be increased in accordance with current Din regulations. Now a new 1.30 meter high railing made of local oak adorns the crossing. The entire measure cost € 55,000.
