Public guided tour in the Museum Kloster Bentlage

On Sunday, October 30 at 3 pm there will be a public guided tour at the Museum Kloster Bentlage. The meeting point is at the museum ticket office. In a small group of participants, visitors will learn about works of art from the monastery’s history and from the “Westphalian Gallery”. First of all, the history of the monastery of the Knights of the Cross, which existed at this location from 1437 to 1803, and the art treasures from the late Middle Ages, which have been preserved on site until today. These include the late medieval reliquary gardens as well as altar reliefs and representations of saints made of sandstone. They were created around 1500 by outstanding sculptors. On display in the “Westphalian Gallery” are loans from the LWL Museum of Art and Culture, Münster, which in great variety recall Westphalia’s contribution to modern art – from the landscape paintings of Otto Modersohn to the expressive paintings of Wilhelm Morgner, who died at an early age, to the abstract paintings of Josef Albers and Emil Schumacher.

Museum admission is free, the participation fee in the guided tour is € 5, a transferable 4-ticket is available for € 16. Registration is not required. Information: 05971 – 918450 (Sat 2 – 6 pm, Sun 10 – 6 pm).
