This afternoon Alderman David Vermorken opened the completely renovated swimming pool ‘t Wooldrik in Borne. After a thorough renovation, the pool now has a new entrance and a renovated paddling pool. The pool is ready to be put back into full use by the residents of Borne and surrounding areas.Alderman David Vermorken: “The reopening of swimming pool ‘t Wooldrik is an important step in the modernization of our sports and recreational facilities. The pool continues to be a valuable meeting place for our community, where both young and old can enjoy recreational and sports swimming.Swimming pool ‘t Wooldrik is now fully renovatedOn July 11, 2023, the City Council approved the development of a new sports complex at sports park ‘t Wooldrik. In these plans, it was decided that the swimming pool will be an independent building, separatefrom the sports center, with its own entrance, a renovated staff room and a completely new paddling pool. Earlier, in 2022, part of the pool was already renovated and equipped with energy-saving measures. The renovation of the toddler pool was then postponed to a later phase, but is now complete. We are proud that the fully renovated swimming pool is now officially in use.The renovation of the swimming pool was part of the original ‘t Wooldrik project In 2023, the municipality of Borne decided not to proceed with the ‘t Wooldrik project. The costs for the project turned out to be much higher than budgeted. Another important risk was that the new complex had to connect well with the existing swimming pool and sports hall 2. This applied to both the construction and the technical installations, so that together they would form one whole. It was therefore decided to split the project into sub-projects and adjust the original plan.
