On Thursday, January 18, a new series of events will start at Bentlage Monastery, the “Creative Monastery Afternoon”. Museum educator Alexandra Dolezych will be inviting visitors every month in future. In the museum, selected works from the “Westphalian Gallery” will first be examined in detail, and some of the artists’ “secrets” will be discovered together. Afterwards, the participants will have fun putting their observations into practice in the museum studio in a quiet atmosphere with their own creative designs. No previous knowledge is required. The first session on January 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. will focus on the phenomenon of light in painting. You will create your own light compositions using pastel chalks on nettle fabric. The effect of light and the luminosity of the colors are intensified by a special technique that artists such as Edgar Degas liked to use. The other dates are 15.02., 14.03. and 18.04. and can also be attended individually. Participation costs €8 per date, which includes all material costs. To register, please call the visitor office of the municipal museums at Rheine on 05971 939 711 or send an e-mail to .
