15.000 Euro vom Partnerschaftsverein Rheine für Krankenhäuser in Iwano-Frankiwsk und Luczk
RHEINE/TRAKAI. Der Städtepartnerschaftsverein Rheine hat der litauischen Partnerstadt Trakai nun weitere 15.000 Euro für die Beschaffung von Medikamenten und medizinischem Material gespendet. Die Verwaltung in Trakai unterstützt damit die ukrainischen Partnerstädte Iwano-Frankiwsk und Luczk. Die Hilfsgüter wurden nun in die Krankenhäuser der beiden ukrainischen Städte transportiert. Die Hilfsaktion für die Ukraine, die unter dem Motto “Freunde helfen Freunden” ins Leben gerufen wurde, stößt bislang auf große Unterstützung in der Rheinbevölkerung. Insgesamt 41.000 Euro haben die Rheiner auf diese Weise bereits über die litauische Partnerstadt und mit weiteren Partnern gespendet, um die Krankenhäuser in Iwano-Frankiwsk und Luczk zu unterstützen.
“The long-standing international partners of Trakai in Germany – the residents of the city of Rheine – collected 15,000 euros on the initiative of the partnership association and transferred the money to the district municipality of Trakai. The support collected by the residents of Rheine will be used for the second time to purchase medicines that will be sent to the military hospitals of Luczk and Ivano-Frankivsk,” says a recent press release from the city of Trakai.
These two Ukrainian cities, which have been ravaged by brutal warfare for four months, are partners in the international cooperation of Trakai and Rheine, it said. With the campaign “Friends help friends” the people of Rheine extended a helping hand. Already some time ago, the people of Rheine collected 15,000. euros, for which medicines and medical products were purchased in Lithuania and reached the two twin towns in Ukraine thanks to the efforts of the municipality, the city’s press release continues. Meanwhile, the Rheiner Partnerschaftsverein continued to collect, continued the campaign and now again provided 15,000 euros in new support for Ukraine, the administration’s information for the people of Trakai continues.
The hospital in Trakai was entrusted with the purchase of necessary medicines and other supplies for the support received. During the transport across the border, the Polish twin cities supported the Lithuanians.
“We thank our twin town Rheine, the association and the residents for such a great help to Ukraine. We appreciate it as a great respect for our city,” says the mayor of Trakai, Andrius Šatevičius.
With further donations, the town twinning association Rheine will soon support the city of Trakai to take care of the numerous Ukrainian refugee children housed there.
