Mayor Jan Pierik nominated for reappointment

The Borne City Council has decided to nominate Mayor Jan Pierik fora reappointment. His current term expires on January 28, 2026. The city councilwould like to see him continue as mayor of Borne for the next few years .Henk van den Berg, chairman of the trust committee says: “Over the past yearsour mayor has convincingly fulfilled his role. As City Councilwe have come to know him as a mayor who is very involved in the Bornsociety. We are pleased and satisfied that the trust we placed in Jan Pierik in 2020is now confirmed through a positive recommendation for reappointment for asecond term as mayor of our beautiful villages.”Mayor Pierik is pleased with the nomination for reappointment: “I am grateful for thetrust of the city council. It gives enormous energy to work together with and for the inhabitants,entrepreneurs and associations of Borne, Hertme and Zenderen on our beautifulmunicipality. In recent years I have enjoyed being mayor of Borne and I am happy to continue thatwith great enthusiasm.”ProcessThe recommendation of the municipal council now goes through the Commissioner of the King of Overijsselto the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. After this, the mayor can be reappointed by Royal Decree onnomination by the minister.
