RheineOn Sunday, 29 September, it’s thattime again – numerous colorful kites, large and small, will be flying in the sky above the Hünenborg grounds. As in previous years, it will be a day for young and old.
The Bentlage/Wadelheim/Wietesch/Schleupe district council invites everyone to join in the kite festival on the grounds around the Hünenborg from 11 am to 5 pm. A varied program and a delicious selection of food and drink are the perfect ingredients for a wonderful day against the backdrop of the Hünenborg monument. The kite festival is a fixed date in the calendar for many families – every year on the last Sunday in September!
Many clubs, kindergartens and schools enjoy participating in the planning and organization of the festival. In addition to a wide range of food and drink, there is of course also plenty of fun and games – such as various arts and crafts activities, face painting, a children’s carousel, a crate slide, a bouncy castle, lots of new hands-on activities and information stands. The volunteer fire department and the police will also be there again with their vehicles, which the little ones can discover at close quarters.
Unfortunately, the advertising postcards distributed this year have caused some confusion, as an error has crept into the dates. The small info text mentions 24.09.2023, but the diligent observer will have already noticed that this is the date of the kite festival from the previous year. Partly for environmental reasons and because it is widely known that the popular kite festival takes place on the last Sunday in September every year, the district council has decided to distribute the postcards and not destroy them. The correct date for this year remains 29.09.2024!
Due to the limited parking facilities around the Hünenborg monument, the district advisory council asks all visitors who are able to come on foot or by bike.
