“It was super, really fantastic”

The St.Aegidiusschool in Hertme receives the Johannes-Eschendorfschool from Rheine.

Thursday, April 16 was finally the day. After the corona years again a school exchange where group 5/6 of the St.Aegidius in Hertme could meet children from Rheine.

The bus from Rheine was received on arrival in Hertme in the schoolyard with loud applause, a warm welcome for the children from Rheine after rain showers and a short “Stau” on the way.

Misses Linda and Marleen and Master Hans provided a fun start with a welcome speech, an interactive introductory game and with drinks and tasty cookies. The children from Hertme were surprised with a school photo of the 24 children from Rheine of the “AlpacaKlasse” and all received homemade “Schmetterlingen” with lollipops.

‘The ice was completely broken’ when they all got to play outside together. There you could clearly see that different mother tongues are no problem for the children at that time.

After the joint lunch, the bus took them to the farm of Mathieu’s parents, one of the children from St. Aegidius School. There they were given a nice tour on the learning farm, they were allowed to feed the cows and admire the calves.

As a souvenir, all the children of the “Alpaka class”” received a backpack.

Teacher Linda said afterwards, “It was super, really fantastic and some of the children have already made beautiful friendships. We are all tired but very fulfilled and in September we want to go from Hertme to Rheine, the plan is.

The theme of the St. Aegidius School “Learning together towards the future!” was thus, this day, put into practice by the children of the St. Aegidius School together with those of the Johannes-Eschendorf.Rheine.Schule. A fine example of “Citizenship Studies.

The School Exchange Project through Partner Committee Borne-Rheine, is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Interreg program Deutschland-Nederland.
