Intercultural Week 2023 in Rheine

Info evening in the meeting center Mitte51

Rheine. On Monday, February 13, the Integration Council of the city of Rheine invites you to an information evening on this year’s Intercultural Week (IKW).

The action week is an initiative of the German Bishops’ Conference, the Protestant Church in Germany and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis. The initiative has existed since 1975, with around 5,000 events taking place in more than 500 cities and communities each September.

This year’s motto #NeueRäume leaves much room for interpretation. It stands for the goals of the IKW: open, design, create, connect, use or enter new spaces. It is about the need for new spaces and who has access to them. Who is left out and why? The IKW with its numerous events is a living sign of how it can be successful to include everyone in the “space”. It gives joy in togetherness and encourages us to shape our social life together.

True to the motto, this year a colorful program will again attract all interested parties to the Intercultural Week. During the Intercultural Week, the new premises of Mitte51 will be officially opened. The IKW will conclude with a large citizens’ picnic with a colorful stage program and numerous (hands-on) booths and a selection of food from around the world.

In order to offer a diverse and varied program in our city, the support of associations, interest groups, educational institutions and numerous volunteers is needed. A workshop, leisure activities or project, a round of talks or an exhibition, numerous possibilities can enrich the Intercultural Week in Rheine.

At 18:00 o’clock the info. evening starts in the meeting center at the central road 51, in order to support associations, communities of interest or neighborhoods with the idea identification and conversion. The Integration Council and the team of Mitte51 look forward to a joint exchange and are happy to answer questions.

Registration by e-mail or by telephone 05971 8014722 is requested.
