Rheine. On the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance “No to violence against women and girls”, the equal opportunities officers of the district of Steinfurt and the staff of the women’s shelter and the women’s advice center provided information in the city center of Rheine last Saturday.
The participants are of the opinion that raising awareness of this issue is extremely important and deserves widespread attention. For many women, their own home is the most dangerous place – 700 cases of domestic violence were reported in the Steinfurt district alone in 2022 – although the number of unreported cases is likely to be much higher. “Look instead of looking away” and, if necessary, call the “Violence against women” helpline (116 016) – this is the appeal of the women taking part.
