Hugs of welcome

Pupils from Borne pay a return visit to Rheine

Rheine. Before the summer vacations, Class 3a from Johannesschule Eschendorf visited the partner municipality Borne and got to know the children and teachers from Aegidiusschule. The children made their first contacts during this visit.

The anticipation of the return visit was evident on both sides when the bus from Borne arrived at Emstorplatz. As the Dutch pupils got off the bus, the first children hugged each other and were delighted to see each other again. After a brief welcome, the 4a class from St. John’s School boarded the bus from Borne and headed off to the nature zoo together.

The two classes spent a lovely morning there in great weather and the Rheinensers were able to show the children from Borne their zoo and the animals. Despite the good weather, the children particularly enjoyed the mouse barn. Finally, they romped around the zoo’s playground together.

Happy and exhausted, they then returned to the Johannesschule Eschendorf. There, the German and Dutch children and teachers enjoyed a delicious hot lunch prepared by the head of the OGS, Anja Müller, and her kitchen team. This was followed by a short tour of the Johannesschule. This ended in the assembly hall. There, the children from class 4a were delighted to receive gifts from the Dutch children.

Finally, the children played together in the schoolyard of St. John’s School and said goodbye to each other with a heavy heart.
