Vacation program of the Municipal Museums

Only a few days to go before schoolchildren start their Easter vacations. The municipal museums have a special offer for the two weeks of the vacation.

It starts on Sunday, April 2 with the family afternoon in the salt workshop. Children and families will have the opportunity to make their own salt from the Bentlager brine between 2 and 6 pm. The historic boiling pans and salt storage facilities can also be visited. Here, information is provided about the Gottesgabe salt works, a technical monument that is unique in Westphalia. Other exciting hands-on stations for children can be visited. For example, the motto “Ship ahoy” is about the transport routes for salt.

And three days later on Wednesday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., children between the ages of 7 and 10 will again have the opportunity to take part in an exciting vacation course in the salt workshop under the motto “Salt from Rheine” and follow the path from brine to salt. First of all, there will be a discovery tour through the historic salt boiling house to the firing points including boiling pans. The program then continues in the salt workshop: Here, all course participants can make their own salt from the Bentlager brine in small pans.

On April 12, the Wednesday after Easter, things get creative in the Falkenhof Museum studio. In the morning from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the focus will be on the art of porcelain painting. Children between the ages of 7 and 10 are invited to a vacation course in which they will learn how to decorate white plates and cups. The hand-painted plates and bowls of former Falkenhof residents, which are on display in the museum’s vaulted hall, will serve as inspiration for great floral designs, for example. All materials will be provided.
