Vacation pass for all and free of charge this year

Beigeordneter Raimund Gausmann, Jugendamtsleiterin Annette Wiggers, Bürgermeister Dr. Peter Lüttmann, Fachbereichsleiterin Schulen, Soziales, Migration und Integration Wiebke Gehrke und Wiebke Helling aus dem Bereich Kinder- und Jugendförderung stellten den diesjährigen kostenlosen Ferienpass vor.

Rheine. As in previous years, the vacation pass of the city Rheine is also available this year. A special feature this year is that the vacation pass is free of charge for all children and young people under the age of 18, as well as schoolchildren. The offer is financed by means of the “Stärkungspakt NRW”.

In consequence of the Russian war of aggression and due to the rising prices for energy and food, the federal state government sees further need for action and makes available to the municipalities additional financial means at a value of 418,000 € once this year. The city of Rheine would therefore like to pass on this “more” to its citizens in a targeted manner. Children, young people and families as well as homeless people and people threatened by homelessness are therefore to benefit from the additional funds.

With a part of the money so also the vacation passports could be financed and made available for the target group free of charge. The vacation pass is made up of four different tickets. This gives children and young people the opportunity to visit the zoo free of charge with one of the vouchers. The other three vouchers in the vacation pass are variable and can be used either for the Mesum indoor swimming pool, the Rheine outdoor swimming pool or for the mini-golf course in the city park. “We are pleased that, thanks to the funding, we can set a strong example for families and single parents with the free vacation pass,” said Mayor Dr. Peter Lüttmann and Alderman Raimund Gausmann. All those involved hope that as many children and young people as possible will use the pass for a varied vacation.

The vacation passport will be available starting from 21 June with the youth welfare department (Cityhaus, Bahnhofstr. 1, 48431 Rheine), at the city hall information (monastery STR. 14, 48431 Rheine) as well as in the field office Mesum (Nielandstrasse 7, 48432 Rheine). Other drop-off points are the district offices and youth centers in Rheine. A list with the opening hours to be observed and all drop-off points can be found on the city’s homepage Rheine. Reservations are not possible. With questions the youth welfare department under the telephone number 05971/939-668 or by E-Mail: is available.
