The barbecue on Ascension Day – traditionally in the City Park.
On Thursday, May 18, 2023 (Ascension Day), the barbecue season will open in the City Park – as it has traditionally for over 40 years. RTV invites you from 11:00 a.m. to the big barbecue party, the Stadtpark Picnic! Those who have not already taken advantage of the opportunity will get the chance to “grill up” at the big barbecue party in the city park. In addition to many grills, which can be used free of charge and on which “brought along” food can be crisped, a varied gastronomic offer awaits the guests.
Romping, playing, having fun… the colorful play offer on the children’s playground ensures happy children and relaxed parents. Thanks to the support of various institutions, the youngest are offered a lot. The team of the “House of Taekwondo” is on site and offers information as well as entertainment for all interested.
Bouncy castles & merry-go-rounds will make children’s hearts beat faster, as will “Movement & Co.” for children and young people, organized by the Jakobi Youth Center.
Also this year the canoe club Rheine 1950 e.V. will be there and present itself with canoe sport offers on the pond and invite to paddle along.
At 11.00 o’clock the program starts before the show stage with demonstrations of resident associations. The audience can witness and marvel at a colorful program of the “Mesumer Feldmäuse”, the “Stadtgarde Rheine”, “Modellierton”, “Rheiner tanzt”, “Tanz und mehr” as well as the “Taekwon-Do Rheine”.
The band “Alacoustic” enters the stage at 15.00. With cover songs from rock, pop, soul, funk, Latin & Co, they will rock the lawn of the city park this year. The program ranges from the 60s to the best songs of the 2000s.
In the concert shell the program begins at 11.00 o’clock with “The Real Fakes” – cover music interpreted by the well-known Rheinensern Conny “Don” Skibbe, Wencke Glomb and John “Fake” Hermühlen. Afterwards, the Ibbenbüren band “All Night Long” will then provide the right atmosphere with R&B groove and polyphonic singing.
“We defend our title!” That is the objective for this year’s city cycling. Rheine is taking part again! The starting signal for the action is at 1 pm on the large meadow. The goal is to collect bicycle kilometers for three weeks in a race, thus actively protecting the climate and promoting one’s own health and supporting the city’s cycling promotion. It’s fun! Taking part is everything. Every kilometer counts. Registration is easy at www.stadtradeln.de.
A special anniversary will also be celebrated during the barbecue. The town twinning Rheine – Borne celebrates its 40th birthday! To mark the occasion, a new bicycle path connecting the municipalities has been developed. Our friends from the Netherlands will come via this new “Vriendenweg” – the friendship bike path – on this day to Rheine in the city park. The guests from Borne are welcomed at about 13 o’clock. In addition some hundred European flags are distributed, with which the guests are welcomed.
