Rheine. When it gets dark in the evening and almost all the lights in the library are turned off, the business is usually over. Not so last Friday, because things really got going after closing time!
70 brave children came to face a course through the former hardware store equipped with a flashlight. They went through the building via the back entrance, past skeletons, spider webs and crawl tunnels. The course took the children from the former delivery area through the warehouse and into the library area. After the walk gave them goose bumps even between the shelves, the children reached the green carpet in the children’s world. Welcomed by the library staff, there was then another highlight: the volunteer readers of the public library read short pieces from well-known and unknown spooky children’s books. This caused some applause from the children and, of course, surprised them in between with the appropriate sound effects.
Afterwards, the children could pick up a portion of freshly prepared “spooky popcorn” in black, a certificate for special courage and a “ghost to take home”.
